According to a November 19 report by MindaNews, the Davao city government is moving to develop a 25-hectare property in Barangay Daliao, Toril into an economic zone through a public-private partnership (PPP), positioning the area as a future manufacturing hub.
According to reports, the Toril district site is state-owned and can meet the demand for large-scale land from potential foreign investors, particularly manufacturing enterprises seeking to establish production facilities. Future investing enterprises will be eligible for fiscal and non-fiscal incentives granted by the city government to businesses within this economic zones.
Currently, the Davao City government implements fiscal incentives for newly established investment projects, including: a 3-year exemption from business tax, a 2-year exemption from real property tax, and a 3-year exemption from mayor's permit fees and license fees. To qualify for these fiscal supports, new projects must fall within the ten priority investment sectors encouraged by Davao City, namely agribusiness, tourism, technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, property development, health, education, eco-industry, and inclusive business activities.
Non-fiscal incentives extended by the Davao City government to business locators include business information, facilitating the processing of local permits and licenses, investment counseling and business matching, and arranging site visits.
