The Philippine Department of Transportation (DoTr) is currently assessing an unsolicited proposal for the bundled development, operation, and maintenance of three regional airports—Davao, Siargao, and Bicol—according to a recent statement posted on its official Facebook page.

The proposal was submitted by a consortium comprising JG Summit Infrastructure Holdings Corp. and Filinvest Infra-Solutions Ventures. Based on data from the PPP Center, the Php16.05-billion package includes a 30-year development, operation, and maintenance concession for Davao International Airport and Bicol International Airport, along with a 15-year concession for Siargao Airport.

The DoTr stated that the proposal will undergo rigorous evaluation, review, and negotiation in accordance with Republic Act No. 11966, also known as the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Code.

The Philippine government has prioritized airport development as part of its transportation agenda, pushing for the privatization of more domestic airports to boost regional tourism and attract greater business investments.
